“Moody” is what Sacramento, CA artist uses to describe his art. Xavier is freelance illustrator working mainly with watercolor and charcoal. He has attended Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a focus in Traditional Animation and Storyboards. His art is static, vulnerable, haunting and gives a sense of place. The themes are typically related to the occult like ghosts, demons and witches with an uncanny approach. In any of his painting the main objects are bold with subtle details to a background that is consumed by the atmosphere. Major influences of Xavier’s latest works comes from film photography around the 1900’s. The photos have a very shallow depth of field isolating an object and the contrast is soft creating a harmony throughout the piece. They appear almost dream like. In the end Xavier's goal is to make something that creates a feeling either new or familiar.
