Edward John "Ed" Speleers is an English actor and producer. Speleers' first professional role in 2006 was the lead in 20th Century Fox's screen version of Christopher Paolini's hit book Eragon. He's also known for starring in the TV series Downton Abbey, as recurring character Jimmy Kent. Speleers has been nominated for both the Saturn Awards, as Best Young Actor, and the British Academy Film Awards, for a short film he co-produced.
Ed starred in biographical feature Breathe, directed by Andy Serkis along with Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield. In August 2018, Speleers made his stage debut in the play Rain Man, portraying the lead role of Charlie Babbitt. In that year he also starred in Lars Von Triers The House That Jack Built. Ed played the lead, opposite Zoë Tapper, in Indy festival film ZOO (Death Do Us Part), and earlier this year he played the recurring role of Stephen Bennet in award-winning series, Outlander.
