Review: Netflix and Marvel's Indefensible Defenders

Patience is a virtue, and the Marvel True Believers have been virtuous as they waited for the Defenders to form ranks after the groundwork was laid in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and that other one. While we're happy to see these iterations of the characters and the actors playing them in any capacity, it's hard to say that this particular venture came together in a way left us a little more than deflated.

If you're a fan of the dynamic actors that created meaningful characters to ground our antagonists in the supporting ensemble, well that's too bad. Colleen Wing seems to be the only cast member worth developing as Trish is the same Trish she was in Jessica Jones 1st episode and if we're left to judge by their lack of interaction, Foggy and Claire act like perfect strangers, not people who have been through trauma together.

Most of the Defenders' problems could have been solved in the script and by just giving characters something to do. The characters have all developed distinct ways to attack a story. You gave us glimpses of a great show Netflix, but ultimately drop the ball. Watch the Wizpop Minute above to see what was worth the wait and where Sigourney Weaver was wasted.

Defenders is available to stream on Netflix now.
