In the 1970s and ‘80s, action-adventure and superhero comics and cartoons were at creative and commercial peaks! Superstar creators—including Jack Kirby, Gil Kane and Steve Gerber—worked in both media. Today, animator Tom Cook, who worked on popular cartoons including Superfriends, He-Man, Thundarr and The Smurfs) and writer-editor Danny Fingeroth (whose comics credits include Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers) discuss what was going on in the parallel worlds of comics and cartoons of the era, their experiences creating characters and stories, and about working with greats such as Hanna Barbera, Lee, Claremont and Ditko.

Self-publishing creator, Victor Dandridge, heads a forum-style discussion on the practices of self-publishing comic books. Guided with his own years of experience as both a comic book fan and creator, Victor aims to lead this discussion, interacting with the attending audience, to share ideas for comic book production, marketing and distribution.

12:00-12:45PM THE ART OF SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON PRODUCTION WITH ANIMATOR/DIRECTOR TOM COOK (ROOM 305)
Wizard World is proud to present world-renown animator Tom Cook (Tarzan; Flash Gordon; He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; She-Ra Princess of Power). This panel will be a demonstration of the steps taken to bring an idea from script to screen. Cook will begin with a short story of how he became an animator back in the late 1970s and then describe the different departments in an animation studio and what they do to move the development of the cartoon forward. Tom will have a few scenes he has worked on over the years on video and then will open the floor for questions about either the process or any other question you may have. So come out and see first-hand how your favorite cartoons were made.

In this panel we will share a couple of our stories about how some of us got started into Star Wars Costuming. We will walk you through our struggles and journeys through the process! Further we will show some tips and techniques we use to craft our armor and costumes!

The Initiative Production Group exists to create compelling images that capture the imagination, engage the viewer and bring stories to life. William Logan and Gordon Lamb of the IPG will explain how cosplayers and photographers can create better images and have more fun doing it. During this session, they will bring their combined 50 years experience in design, photography, and story-telling to all who want to go beyond mere cosplay photography.

Wigs are becoming more and more used in cosplay as the years go by. But the knowledge on where to purchase, how to care for, is still a bit puzzling. In this panel we’ll go over various types of wigs, places they can be purchased, and how to care for them so they last you a long time! Internationally award-winning cosplayer, Mogchelle, will be leading this panel, which will also include a demo of how to create hair wefts, and how to add them to your wigs to create extra highlights and volume, and various affordable wig care and styling products.

Come and celebrate the 55 year run of Saturday Morning Cartoons as we explore the scheduling and hundreds of great cartoons that we all grew up with... learn a bit about the history of cartoons and see if you can find a few favorites of yours that have been lost in your memory banks. This will be a fast moving interactive panel hosted by Hanna-Barbera and Filmation Studios Animator/Director Tom Cook as he references most all of the cartoons that graced the Saturday Morning schedule from 1960 until the early 1990s... prepare your minds for 45 minutes of Nostalgic Cartoon Memories and get ready to say "Hey...
