Alvaro Martinez, natural of Cantabria, land of the best anchovies in the world, or so they say, got his degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca in 2004. Since then, he's worked mainly as an storyboard artist for advertising and movies (The Impossible, Zipi y Zape, El Club de la canica, among others) aside of his other work as commercial illustrator, be it educational, for advertising, or publishing. After a hardcore boot camp, this native of Torrelavega started working in comics, and his first professional gig for the American industry were 12 pages for Harbinger #10 inked by the great Stefano Gaudiano. For Valiant, he also worked on Archer & Armstrong #9.
After those two books, Marvel knocked on Alvaro's door, and he started working on the Ultimate Comics X-Men ongoing series, book he pencilled until the conclusion of the World War X storyline. With that book over, Alvaro moved to the huge Galactus crossover running in all the Ultimate line of books, with the miniseries Cataclysm: Ultimate X-Men. After pencilling Iron Man Annual #5, Alvaro returned to DC to work on books like Aquaman, Batman Eternal, Convergence: Booster Gold, or Grayson.
Alvaro Martinez is currently working on Batman & Robin Eternal.
